Indian Team for upcoming West Indies Tour

India Cricket team is coming back from a grueling and disappointing tour of South Africa. This tour of SA was surrounded by excitement and off-the-field controversy. Now after coming back Team India has white ball series against West Indies where they will play 3 ODI and 3 T20.

The BCCI announced the team for the West Indies tour this Thursday which had some shocking omissions and some surprise inclusions.

Now let’s dive into the team selection.

Firstly good news for all Indian team fans white-ball captain Rohit Sharma is fit and is back to lead the squad for both T20 and the ODI.

After the recently concluded ODI series defeat against South Africa, many expected a lot of changes in the Squad. Shikar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Pant hold on to their places in the squad. Surprise omissions from the ODI team were of V.Iyer who was seen as Hardik Pandya's replacement just after 2 games. Out of the box and most controversial inclusion was of Deepak Hooda in the squad. Hooda hasn’t been in great form whatsoever. In recently concluded Vijay Hazare and other domestic tournaments where was seen nowhere.

Another thing note was the comeback of Kuldeep Yadav in Indian cricket after a long absence of 6 months. Selectors must have brought him back to get wickets in middle overs which the Indian teams aren’t capable to get. Surprising enough exclusions of Rishi Dhawan have raised questions over the selection committee. But to the credit of the selection committee, they have awarded 2 well-deserving youngsters a chance in the likes of Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi.

Now coming to T20 Team selection it's very similar to the lines of the Odi team barring a few changes here and there. V.Iyer is included in this team along with the likes of Ishan Kishan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who missed out on the ODI Team Bus. Another Controversary call was not included Ruturaj Gaikwad in the format in which he excelled the most. He was the orange cap winner in IPL 2021 season. Also, Axar Patel is back for the T20 series.

Jaspreet Bumrah Shami and Ravi Ashwin are rested while Ravi Jadeja still recovering from his injury. So overall this is the team news for the West Indies series.

Let us know what you think of this team selection and are you satisfied with the selection.
