PSL : Pakistan Super League

PSL which is the Pakistan Super League started on the 27th of Jan 2022. PSL was started back in 2015. Since its inception PSL has been a great success for Pakistan cricket in general. PSL allowed cricket to return to Pakistan after what happened many back with the Sri Lankan team.

PSL allowed Pakistan to open up and attract many good international talents. Players like Dale Steyn, Darren Sammy played in PSL and praised the league.

Season 8 of PSL started on the 27th of January. These are early days in the league yet we see Multan Sultan one of the teams that have been dominated the league winning all their matches so far. Rest all teams just started to click.

Now coming on to this match Karachi vs Lahore, the Karachi team is headed by Pakistan star player Babar Azam while Lahore is headed by their star bowler Shaheen Afridi. Karachi was batting first and they had a good opening stand with captain Babar playing an anchor role and Sharjeel Khan on the other end going all-out attack. Unfortunately in 10th over the opening stand was broken. From here their downfall of Karachi started. No other batsman got going for them and bundled out for a score of 170.

Before even the start of the Lahore chase, many Pundits regarded a score of 170 short and they said Karachi is 20 runs short. The chase began but Lahore opener Shafique was dismissed for cheap. Then came a storm of men in form Fakhar Zaman he along with Hafeez stabilised the team first and then went on to attack. Fakhar Zaman scored a brilliant hundred his first of PSL Season 8. It looked like Fakhar take Lahore home comfortably but was dismissed. Samit Patel the experience England all-rounder finished the job by scoring a quick 25. The end result was Lahore Qalandars won by 6 wickets.

 In conclusion, Karachi finds themselves struggling at bottom of the table after losing the first 3 matches of the campaign. They need to regroup quickly otherwise this season of PSL will be like bad dream for them. As far as Lahore is concerned they got their win should look consolidate their position from now on
