Post-Match Review of India vs SL 2nd T20
The Indian team just completed a white wash against the mighty West Indies. The Indian team is in high flying momentum right now. Within days after the WI series was concluded India had another small T20 series against their neighbours Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka are touring India for 3 T20 and 2 Tests. The 1st T20 took place in Lucknow. Next 2 matches were slated to happen at Dharamshala Indian team had rested key players such as Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant while 2 key players returned from their respective breaks, Jadeja and Bumrah. India unfortunately hit a setback as 2 of key players in existing squad Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad suffered injuries and it looks like both will miss this tour.
After a crushing defeat in 1st T20 Sri Lanka was expected to show some fight. Sri Lanka made 2 changes in their Lineup. Meanwhile India went in with the same lineup. Indian Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss opted to field. India invited Sri Lanka to bat. Sri Lanka openers Nissanka and Gunathilaka had good opening stands. They started slowly in powerplay but picked up pace in the middle overs. Nissanka played a gritty knock of 75 from one end. After Gunathilaka's wicket there was a mini collapse and Sri Lanka was reduced for 85/4 in 10 overs. Then came captain Shanaka and we played blinder innings. Shanaka scored 47 from just 19 balls and in the end Sri Lanka finished with a score of 183 in their 20 overs.
With a Target of 184 which looked a bit long but considering India form India was always favourite to win the match. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Kishan went cheaply, Kishan was unfortunately hit on head with a bouncer which rattled him. With India 40/2 chasing 184 was a spot of bother. But then came 2 youngsters of India, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson stepped up. Iyer played a brilliant knock of 74, while Samson went in hard and scored quick fire 40. Then came Sir Jadeja , he was on fire. Jadeja scored 40 in just 3 overs and India eventually won the match by 7 wickets.
