India vs England : Women WC Review
The Indian Women Team was full of confidence after winning their 3 matches on the trot in the world cup campaign. On other hand the defending world champions England had a disastrous start to their title defence. England lost all 3 matches so far. Both teams had two different scenarios one were they were table toppers while other dwelling at the bottom of the table.
Indian team went with no changes England too went with their full strength squad. Both teams wanted to win the match. England won the toss and chose to bowl and invited India to bat. As India walked out to bat there was total chaos in the well settled Indian batting order. Indian wickets kept falling on regular intervals. India were rattled for 70/6. The only batsman who scored for the Indian top order was Smirti Mandhana. Then came the partnership between Richa Ghosh and Indian legend Jhulun Goswami. They took India 100 par but eventually Indian batting was crumbled for mere 134. Star of the bowling for England was their off spinner Charlotte Dean who bowled her best and got 4 wickets for just 23 runs.
With 135 to get England must feel relaxed. England openers once again went cheaply and England were reduced to 4/2. Then came two experienced campaigners in captain Heather Knight and Natalie Sciver. These 2 senior pros steadily improved the English innings and went on to form good partnerships taking England closer to their target. India again came into the game when Natalie Sciver was sent back to pavilion. After the Sciver wicket there was chaos in the England dressing room and wickets kept tumbling one after another. Fortunately for them their captain stayed till the end and took England home.
England defeated the in-form India women team by 4 wickets and registered their first win in the world cup. This win will give confidence to England and now things spice up for the remaining world cup. To follow more such cricket updates follow us on cricket live score.
