IS Hardik Pandya Indian Team Career Over ?

Hardik Pandya has been prolific cricketer. He has rare skills of being top notch batsman and can bowl consistent too. Hardik first broke into the scene with Mumbai Indians in 2015 season. Mumbai Indians found him and developed him into cricketer he is today. He first got an entry into the Indian team for the T20 World Cup in Australia. He was looked as no.6 Batsman. Pandya was seen as that all-rounder Indian team were looking for years.

He became a prominent figure in the team due his skills as an all-rounder. He played a major part in the Indian team. He played a crucial role as an all-rounder and also a finisher in the team. His career was going all good but then that horrific injury during the Asia cup in 2018 where he had stretched off the field. Later we found that he had severe back injury which ruled him out for months. But unfortunately since he has returned from that injury he hasn’t been the same cricketer that he was. His bowling completely diminished and he was reduced to just no.6 batsman. He played into the team but was unable to bowl which started to hamper the team balance. Questions were raised regarding his place in the team.

Nevertheless the Indian team persisted with him and continued to back him. Even for his IPL franchise he wasn’t bowling which raised more eyebrows. The Mumbai camp repeatedly said that they were preserving Hardik for the future and giving him full time to recover. For almost 2 Season Pandya didn’t bowl for Mumbai and India and to his bad luck his batting form dipped and a major outbreak happened regarding his place.

After the recently concluded T20 World Cup where India's performance was not up to the mark again questions were raised regarding Hardik. Since then Hardik informed the BCCI he needed a break to work on his fitness so he wasn’t included in the scheme of things for the New Zealand and South Africa Tour. Now when Indians are struggling to find a proper Hardik replacement even after trying many players in that slot, everyone is wondering where Hardik Pandya is.

Recently it was announced he will be captaining the new Ahmedabad IPL franchise . So everyone thought we could see Hardik back in Indian colours from the West Indies tour. But to the fans disappointment Hardik Pandya yesterday issued an update saying he will now directly take part in IPL 2022 and he is still working to get full fitness.

In a recent update, BCCI have called all the Indian players to attend a camp at NCA. This camp is organised to check fitness of the players and if they fit enough then only then play the Indian Premier League. But interestingly enough Hardik Pandya has not been called for this camp. So this means the BCCI have decided to move beyond Hardik Pandya and do not consider Hardik a crucial part of the Indian team any more.
