Women World Cup 2022:India vs Pakistan Review

ICC women World Cup started on March 4th. West Indies defeated the host in the opener in a last over drama. Other matches too were good enough and slowly the tempo for ICC Women World Cup 2022 is building up. This WC is played in league format where every team will play each other and top 4 teams will qualify for semis.

India was slated to play their first match of this world cup against their Arch Rivalry Pakistan. India vs Pakistan be it any format or of any gender this clash always has significance and importance.

Match started at 6:30am according to Indian time. India had won the toss and they chose to bat first. Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma walked to open but Verma was dismissed on zero and then Deepti Sharma at no.3. Mandhana and Deepti Sharma had a good partnership and took India at 96/1 in 21 overs. Since then there was a mini collapse for the Indian team. Indian Middle order collapsed and India werereduced to 114/6. The big partnership of 2 Indian allrounders , Sneha Rana and Pooja Vastrakar. These 2 batters put on a 100 run stand and took India to a respectable total by the end of 50 overs. India finished their innings at 244/7 at the mid innings mark.

With just 245 to get , Pakistan fancied their chances to chase the total down. Pakistan started really slow. Pakistan batsman all got starts but nobody couldn't convert. Indian bowlers were making their ball talk. Jhulan Goswami was along with Rajeshwari Gayakwad made it difficult for Pakistan batters to do anything. All other bowlers too contributed and India were managed to bowl out Pakistan for mere 137 runs.
